Product description

Stork Townsend Valuedrum

Marinating and Coating Drum

The Stork Townsend Valuedrum is a modular drum for marinating, coating and massaging products, designed for inline operation in meat, poultry and fish processing. The machine, built in 2010, doses marinade or coating and then gently massages the product so that seasoning is spread evenly and helps penetrate its structure. It replaces conventional batch massaging in a large drum and reduces manual handling of the product.

How does the Valuedrum work?

Portions of meat or poultry, usually after cut-up or deboning, enter the machine automatically, with no manual loading. The product passes through successive segments of a rotating drum, and forwarding components move it simultaneously to the next segment until it reaches a discharge belt leading to the packing line.

In one or several segments, a measured quantity of marinade or coating is dosed automatically. Marinades can be combined with garnishes. An adjustable massage force spreads the marinade over the product and helps it penetrate, and depending on the product and type of coating, dedicated massage components can be fitted in the rotating segments.

Key advantages of the Valuedrum

Products move through the machine individually or in small batches rather than lying in a large mass in a drum, so they are not crushed under their own weight, and the marinade and seasoning are distributed evenly. A short process time, automatic loading and the option of connecting it downstream of a batch weigher reduce labour and product damage during transfers.

The modular design allows the number of segments to be matched to the required capacity, product and process time, and further segments can be added if needed. The adjustable massage force and sequential addition of ingredients support repeatable quality, and inline operation makes it easier to track production batches.

Application of the Valuedrum

The Valuedrum is used to marinate and coat fresh products in poultry, meat and fish processing lines, e.g. chicken fillets, wings, legs, whole birds, beef strips, pork chops or salmon portions. It can also be used for other products that need an even coating of seasoning. It works downstream of a batch weigher after cut-up or deboning, and upstream of the packing line.
